5 Series E34 525ix (M50) SAL
Installation:
Fit bearing covers.
The bearing covers are clearly marked and can be read from
the exhaust end.
A1 ... A7 for the exhaust side
E1 ... E7 for the intake side
Hold hydraulic valve plungers in place with special tool
11 3 250.
Lift out bearing strip complete with valve plunger.
Installation:
Note centering sleeves on mounting bolts for bearing covers 2
and 7.
Note:
If the cylinder head is replaced because of a mechanical
defect (cracks, distortion), the contact surfaces of the bearing
strips on the old cylinder head must be checked for distortion
with a straightedge.
Max. gap: 0.05 mm.
Also replace the bearing strips if this specification is exceeded.
