5 Series E34 525ix (M50) SAL
Mount thrust washer on intake camshaft and secure with nuts.
For tightening torque, refer to Technical Data
Mount thrust washer on exhaust camshaft using bolts.
Install bolts to be turnable without play, but do not tighten at this
stage.
Installation:
Check for dowel sleeves (1).
Apply 3 Bond 1209 (refer to BMW Parts Service) liquid sealing
compound on corners of joint between cylinder head and VANOS
control unit.
Replace seal.
Caution!
Before installing the VANOS control unit,
turn the sprockets together with secondary chain as far as right-
hand stop until slots are aligned with the studs.
