A: Version up to prod. date 12/95: only holes as shown by Item (1)
B: Version up to prod. date 01/96: holes (1) and slots (2)
To remedy fault patterns 1 and 2, replace the old version of flywheel (with round holes)
with the current version with holes and slots.
The three converter fastening bolts must be replaced by bolts with captive washers
(see Parts).
To fault pattern 2:

Fault arises only when vehicle is at standstill and only applicable to
525tds A
-
In addition to the flywheel check and possible replacement of the flywheel, the
following extra actions must be performed on the slotted version:
a)
Interrogation of the DDE fault memory in the diagnosis system
If there are implausibilities between the speed sensor and the start-of-injection sensor,
characterised by various fault entries in the DDE/EGS control unit, replace the
following components as if they were a complete unit :
- speed sensor
- start-of-injection sensor
- engine wiring harness
- in addition, replace the EPROM in the transmission control unit with a modified
version.

There are 3 different scopes of EPROM delivery available depending on the vehicle
production date and the national version - see Parts.
If a control unit that has been modified in this manner is to be replaced by a new control
unit for some other reasons, an appropriate EPROM must be ordered and installed for this
