Replacing alternator drive belt tensioner
(M47)
Remove alternator drive belt,
refer to 11 28 010.
Caution!
Belt tensioner is under spring pressure.
Carefully and slowly pretension belt tensioner with a 1/2" socket
wrench extension and remove special tool 11 3 340.
Release plug (1) and seal plug (2 and 3), remove belt
tensioner.
Installation:
Replace O-ring on plug (1).
Tightening Torque of plug (1),
refer to Technical Data 11 28 2AZ.
Note:
The hydraulic belt tensioner is filled with oil, so that a removed
element must always be stored standing upright.
Incorrectly stored elements can usually be vented by pressing
into installed position several times.
