Removing and installing rear exhaust system
M47 (without primary catalytic converter)
Release hexagon nuts (1).
Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Coat thread with copper paste -CRC-, refer to BMW Parts
Service.
Support exhaust system with lifting equipment.
Release screws (1/2) and remove reinforcement plates (3/4).
This illustration shows the E46.
The E39 car only has one reinforcement plate.
Unhook both rubber rings (1).
Remove complete rear exhaust system.
