5 Series E39 523i (M52TU) SAL
Support transmission with special tool 00 2 030 / 24 5 301 /
24 5 304.
Unfasten screws.
Remove cross-member (1).
Installation:
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 24 71 1AZ/ 2AZ.
If necessary, unscrew exhaust suspension on transmission.
Unfasten screws.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 26 11 1AZ.
Grip propeller shaft.
Unscrew nuts.
Bend propeller shaft downwards at center mount (1).
Remove heat shield at rear.
Detach propeller shaft from transmission output flange and tie
back to side on vehicle underbody.
Installation:
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 26 11 6AZ.
