Checking rear spring strut shock absorber
(air spring strut) for leaks
Remove rear spring strut shock absorber,
refer to 37 12 131.
1.
Clean air spring strut.
2.
Screw special tool 37 1 000 onto pressure connection.
3.
Fill air spring strut with a tire inflator to approx. 4 bar.
4.
Completely immerse air spring strut in a container filled with
water and wipe off any air bubbles that may attach.
5.
Replace the air spring strut if rising air bubbles are detected
within an inspection period of 5 minutes. Mark the location of
the leak for warranty claims.
6.
If no air bubbles are detected, increase pressure to max.
10 bar and repeat the test.
