5 Series E39 523i (M52TU) TOUR
Knock back cotter pin in grooved nut.
Installation:
Peen grooved nut to secure.
Release slotted nut (1) with special tool 24 1 170 .
Tightening torque: 24 13 1AZ

Remove transmission extension from special tool.
Remove output flange from mounting.
Installation:
Coat sealing lip of radial seal and sealing surface of output
flange with ATF.
Installation:
An end float of 0.15 ... 0.35 mm is required between parking
interlock gear and end face of output flange. End play is adjusted
with shim (1).
Replace sealing ring.
