5 Series E39 523i (M52TU) TOUR
Place two washers on each of the threaded pins (1) turned away
from passengers.
Both these washers are needed to compensate the height offset
(A) between passenger airbag module and support tube.
The height offset (A) is calculated from the height of the bracket
for the two retaining straps of the passenger airbag cover (airbag
cover).
1 = Support tube
2 = Bracket for two retaining straps of airbag cover
3 = Passenger airbag module
Re-establish plug connection.
Make sure plug is correctly locked by lug.
Lock plug connection,
refer also to 72 12 ... Unlocking/locking airbag plug connections.
Install passenger airbag module.
1 = Passenger airbag cover (airbag cover)
2 = Passenger airbag module
Installation:
Shown here with two retaining straps, same installation
location as with one retaining strap:
Retaining straps are on side turned away from passengers.
