Complaint:
Shortly after the residual heat function has been activated, cold air flows from the
ventilation nozzles, even though the operating conditions for residual heat utilisation are
met.
The following fringe conditions are required for the residual heat utilisation to function
correctly:

Outside temperature less than 15

Engine at normal operating temperature

Vehicle battery adequately charged
Cause:
Software error in the air conditioning control panel (IHKA). The auxiliary water pump in the
auxiliary heater is not switched on.
Affected
vehicles:
E39 with M47 or M57 engine, with automatic air conditioning system (option 534), without
independent heating (option 536)
Manufacturing period: September 2000 to March 2001
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint, replace the automatic air conditioning system control panel.
