5 Series E39 525d (M57) TOUR
Release cap on expansion tank.
Remove underbody protection at front and rear.
Release drain plug (1) at bottom of radiator.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
E39 vehicle only (M47/M57):
Release drain plug (1) on engine block.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 11 11 5AZ .
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Adding coolant:
Release vent plug (1) on coolant pipe.
Remove air duct, microfilter, left side.
RA Draining and topping up coolant (M47 and M57)
