Replacing gaiter for steering gear on left or
right
Important!
Clean rack and steering tie rod.
Grease toothed area of rack,
refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids.
If the polished surface of the rack is damaged (rust), you must
replace the steering gear.
After installation:
•
Carry out steering angle sensor adjustment
Unscrew and remove splash guard.
Unfasten front straps and push sleeve off steering gear. Retract
rack as far as possible and unfasten tie rod joint.
Remove sleeve.
Installation:
Fit new sleeve on tie rod with tightening strap. Insert rack as far as
possible and screw on tie rod.
Tightening torque 32 21 2AZ
.
Attach sleeve to steering gear with tightening strap.
