Removing, installing/replacing starter (M51)
Note General Data, refer to 12 00 ...
Interrogate fault memory of DDE control unit.
Switch off ignition.
Disconnect battery ground wire from the battery.
E39:
Unfasten tightening strap on inlet neck, then unscrew and remove
inlet neck.
Unfasten nuts and remove leads from starter motor.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 12 41 4AZ
Unscrew nuts (1).
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 12 41 1AZ
