Removing and installing/replacing both
output shafts (Touring)

Apply handbrake.

Remove rear wheel.

Unfasten collar nut (1).

Installation:

Replace collar nut, apply a light coating of oil to contact
surface and tighten down.

Tightening torque 33 41 3AZ

.

Secure collar nut by peening on flat areas of output shaft.

Vehicle with coil springs:

Tension coil spring and leave on vehicle at rear.

Vehicle with air suspension:

Pull fuse of air supply unit.

Note:

This prevents unintentional system control.

Loosen pipes on distributor block to release system pressure. The
vehicle stands low.

Tightening torque 37 12 3AZ

.

Remove final drive.

Press output shaft out of drive flange.

Note:

Raise wheel carrier with workshop jack and remove output shaft.

If necessary, remove air reservoir.
