Replacing a ball joint in lower steering
knuckle/wheel carrier
Remove pressure rod/integral link,
refer to 33 32 051.
Support wheel carrier with workshop hoist. The brake hose must
not be exposed to traction loads.
Detach shock absorber from wheel carrier/swinging arm (touring).
Installation:
Insert bush (1) into bore of wheel carrier/swinging arm.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 33 52 1AZ.
If necessary, remachine special tool 33 4 191.
Cut out hatched area from special tool (metal cutting saw). Deburr
cutting edges.
Lift out circlip (1).
Pull out ball joint with special tool 33 4 191 / 192 / 193 and
33 3 333.
Slotted side of special tool 33 4 191 pointing towards wheel
carrier.
Installation:
Install new circlip (1).
