5 Series E39 525tds (M51) TOUR
Retighten upper hinge screws for rear window frame and luggage
compartment lid on left and right.
Open trunk lid, taking care not to alter the adjustment.
Retighten lower hinge screws for rear window frame and luggage
compartment lid on left and right.
Refit plug connection to actuator motor for the eccentric pin in the
lower section of the trunk lid lock.
Caution!
The eccentric pin in the lower section of the trunk lid lock
turns in the trunk lid when the button is pressed!
Operate button in luggage compartment lid, eccentric pin moves
to top dead center.
Perform contact pattern test for upper section of trunk lid lock: e.g.
coat with grease.
Carefully close and then reopen luggage compartment lid.
Upper section (1) of trunk lid lock must not scrape against lower
section of trunk lid lock.
Eccentric pin in lower section of trunk lid lock must not scrape
against upper section (2) of trunk lid lock.
The contact pattern (3) of upper section of trunk lid lock on
eccentric pin should be centred (settling characteristics of trunk lid
are compensated).
