5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Caution!
To prevent damaging valves when later fitting the camshafts,
no pistons should be in TDC position.
Pull out special tool 11 2 300 .
Pull up timing chain (1) and keep tensioned to be able to crank
engine.
Crank engine at front vibration damper with special tool
11 6 480 approx. 45
°
against direction of rotation.
Evenly release screws of camshaft bearing covers (1) in 1/2 turn
steps from outside to inside.
Remove bearing covers and place to one side in orderly fashion.
