5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Unclip top-up pipe (1).
Release expansion rivets (2) of axle panels on left and right.
Disconnect plug (1) from power steering gear (2).
Disconnect vacuum hose (3) from distributor (4).
Disconnect plug (1) from oil level sensor.
Caution!
In order to avoid damaging the airbag coil spring in the
steering column, it is absolutely essential after completing the
work to remove the steering wheel and center the airbag coil
spring.
Remove and install steering wheel.
