5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Detach hose (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Remove oil-filter housing together with oil-water heat exchanger
(3).
Release screws on oil-water heat exchanger (1).
Remove oil-water heat exchanger (1) from oil-filter housing (2).
Replace profile seals (1) on oil-filter housing (2).
Installation:
Clean sealing faces on crankcase/oil-filter housing and oil-
water heat exchanger.
Caution!
In order to avoid damage to the engine caused by coolant
admixture, it is absolutely essential after completing work to
drain and change the engine oil at the engine oil drain plug.
Failure to comply with this procedure will result in serious
engine damage!
Assemble vehicle and set in horizontal position.
Start engine and run at idle speed until oil indicator lamp goes out.
Switch off engine, wait 10 minutes and then check engine oil level.
Top up engine oil if necessary.
