5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Grip propeller shaft at center mount and release nuts.
Tightening torque 26 11 6AZ .
Installation:
Center bearing must be aligned at right angles to propeller
shaft.
Important!
Do not let propeller shaft fall into joints.
Joints and rubber sleeve can be damaged on constant-
velocity joint.
Bend propeller shaft downwards at center mount.
Remove propeller shaft from output flange and tie to one side with
a cord or wire.
Lift out retainer (1).
Withdraw selector rod (2) from joint.
Remove washers (3).
Installation:
Grease selector rod.
Grease,
refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids.
Pay attention to position of washers (3).
