Replacing front axle support (Basis)
Caution!
After installation, align front axle,
refer to 32 00 610.
Suspend engine in installation position with special tool, described
in:
Removing oil sump.
Releasing screw connection of engine mount:
Engine M57
Detach left and right engine mounting brackets from front axle
support.
Unfasten stabilizer on front axle support.
Release tension strut on front axle support,
refer to 31 12 080.
Release control arm on front axle support,
refer to 31 12 001.
Remove heat shield and bracket for engine shielding.
Support spring strut shock absorber from outside.
Measure or mark up screw-in length (A) of both track rods,
unfasten nut and disconnect track rods.
Installation:
Screw in track rods to appropriate screw-in length (A).
