Replacing front left or right spring strut
(Basis)
Special tools required:
•
31 3 340
Note:
The only way to establish whether a spring strut has to be
replaced is to test it when installed with a shock tester or
when removed with a shock absorber test rig.
Read and comply with Information on replacing shock
absorbers.
Refer to Technical Data 31 32 Shock absorber.
Remove brake caliper (brake line remains connected) and tie up
to body,
Refer to 34 11 519.
Unclip ABS and brake wear cable from bracket and disconnect
from connection box.
Remove stabilizer link.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut. Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 31 35 11AZ.
