5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Drill out welding spots in door column.
Take off door column.
Remove remaining sheet metal and foam from gutter in slide/tilt
sunroof.
Straighten and grind joint surfaces.
The spare door column (A-column) consists of welded parts:
1 = Inside of windshield
2 = Reinforcement of windshield
3 = Outside of windshield
Caution!
In the operation described, the inside windshield (1) is not
replaced.
For this reason, the part should be drilled using the spare as a
template before fitting in place up.
Adjust spare part to fit and mark out interface points.
Caution!
In order to fit the reinforcement plate on the reinforcement in
the windshield, a window must be cut out of the windshield.
The connection point on the spare part for the windshield (3) is
located 50 mm (dimension A) below the connection point (1) in the
windshield reinforcement (2).
