Important: Lock the Bluetooth handset in the eject box while you are driving.

This has the following benefits:

•

Reduced risk of injury from loose objects inside the vehicle in the event of sharp braking.

•

Continual monitoring of the battery charge level (e.g. lithium ion battery) and automatic recharging.

Eject box with SIM card holder

The SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module) is placed in the removable SIM card holder in the eject box. A SIM
card reader is integrated in the eject box to read the data on the SIM card (e.g. phone numbers and data for a
GSM mobile phone network).

Bluetooth handset

The Bluetooth handset is the mobile control unit for the TCU (Telematic Control Unit) within the Bluetooth
reception area. Using the Bluetooth handset, telephone calls can be made in privacy mode and short messages
can be sent and received in the Short Message Service (SMS text messaging).  [more ...]

GSM antenna

The GSM antenna is the transmit/receive aerial on the TCU (Telematic Control Unit) for communication with a
mobile phone network. The GSM antenna is fitted to the outside of the vehicle.  [more ...]

Bluetooth antenna 

The Bluetooth antenna is the transmit/receive aerial for the TCU (Telematic Control Unit) for communication with

The overall function includes:

- 

Radio

The radio feeds voice information from the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) as low-frequency signals to the
loudspeakers. 
A radio with multi-information display (MID) displays the telephone functions:

•

Addresses stored on the SIM card can be displayed as telephone directory entries (phone numbers).

•

A phone number displayed can be selected using the controller. Pressing the controller creates a
connection to the phone number.

Multi-function steering wheel

Buttons for the telephone functions are built into the multi-function steering wheel (MFL). A call is accepted or
ended by pressing the transmit/receive button. When a call is accepted using the transmit/receive button, the
TCU switches to hands-free mode.

Hands-free microphone

The hands-free microphone is connected to the Telematic Control Unit (TCU). There is no need to use the
Bluetooth handset in hands-free mode. 
During a phone call, your voice will be picked up by the hands-free microphone and fed to the TCU. 
In many countries it is against the law to make a call with the handset whilst driving.

Important: Whilst driving, the driver should make calls in hands-free mode only.

It is legally permissible for the driver to make a call in hands-free mode using the hands-free microphone and
loudspeakers in the vehicle while he is driving.

Loudspeakers

The loudspeakers convert the low-frequency signals (voice information from the hands-free module) of the
telephone call into sound and emit this sound into the vehicle interior.

Emergency call button

The emergency call button is displayed in the central information display or on the on-board monitor in the
