Removing and installing/replacing glow plug
relay (M47 and M57)
Turn off ignition.
Instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery,
refer to General Information MG12.
Battery negative lead: Release battery terminal clip and
remove and cover battery negative lead.
If malfunctions have occurred on the glow plugs, check the
fuse.
E39 cars only:
Installation location of glow plug relay is in electronics box (E box)
in engine compartment on right.
Release retaining clips (1).
Caution!
The air duct can brake at the firewall if not carefully removed
and installed.
Carefully turn air duct clockwise until it is no longer locked in
firewall.
Pull air duct forwards and remove towards top.
Release retaining bracket (2).
Remove microfilter housing cover (3).
Open spring (4) and pull microfilter housing upwards.
Move microfilter housing to right and remove.
