Removing and installing/replacing coolant
expansion tank (M57)
Caution!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
Caution!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must
protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an
alternator malfunction.
Note:
Follow instructions for working on cooling system,
refer to 17 00 ...
Remove front splash guard.
Draining off and top up coolant.
Detach overflow hose (1).
Pull off cap and detach clamp (2) from vent hose.
Release clamp (3) and detach hose.
Open lock (4). Lift out coolant expansion tank (5).
Disconnect plug from level sensor on underside of coolant
expansion tank (5).
Installation:
Replace clamp (2). Convert level sensor to new coolant
expansion tank (5).
