Removing and installing/sealing or replacing
transmission sump (A5S 440Z)
Note:
After completion of work, top up transmission oil,
refer to 00 11 500 (A5S 440Z).
Remove rear underbody protection, except for E53.
Caution!
It is absolutely essential to use the approved automatic
transmission fluid in this automatic transmission,
refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids MG24.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious
damage to the automatic transmission!
E53:
Release screws and remove protective panel (1).
E31, E38, E39, E53:
Place oil drip tray underneath unit and unfasten oil drain plug
(1).
Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 24 11 6AZ.
