5 Series E39 530d (M57) TOUR
Spacer 31 1 402 must be attached to tension struts which do
not have date stamps.
Position special tool 31 1 401 on traction strut bearing (1) and
swing upward until it contacts tension strut.
Caution!
Bring special tool into contact with tension strut without
exerting force or pressure.
If the control point (1) of the special tool contacts the tension strut,
the tension strut is O.K.
Check left tension strut with tool end L.
Check right tension strut with tool end R.
Replace defective tension strut,
refer to 31 12 080.
Note:
Removed tension struts with traction strut bearings can also be
checked with special tool 31 1 401/402.
