5 Series E39 530d (M57) TOUR
Caution!
Cut through windshield at designated connection point on
windshield and reinforcement on windshield.
1 = connection point for outside of windshield was opened up
earlier, dimension (A) = 240 mm.
2 = connection point for outside of windshield and reinforcement
on windshield, dimension (B) = 290 mm.
Caution!
If it proves necessary to replace the inner and outer
windshields, cut through connection point (2), dimension (B) =
290 mm, between outer windshield, windshield reinforcement
and inner windshield.
Insert and weld up required reinforcement plates with an
overlap of 30 mm at each contact point between windshield
and reinforcement.
At the contact point, both parts must be welded up
accordingly.
Other necessary operations, e.g. replacing gutter for slide/tilt
sunroof, should be performed as and when required.
Remove insulating segment from sub-frame.
Heat insulating segment with hot air blower and remove.
Caution!
Part is very hot!
Protect skin from burns.
Drill out welding spots for jack reinforcement from inside of
vehicle.
