Modified straightening angle set
E39 touring
Situation:
With Service Information bulletin 5 01 97 (203) we presented the E39 touring straightening
angle set supplement.
Due to an incorrect dimension, the assembly of the straightening angle set is not correct
when the rear axle is installed.
Assembly without drive units (body points) is unaffected. It can be assembled as shown in
the enclosed data sheets.
Modifications must be made if it is assembled with the rear axle installed.
Steps for CELETTE straightening angle set supplement (716.309)
This affects the fixtures 38, 39, 40 and 41. They must be renewed.
These 4 new fixtures will be incorporated with new numbers (53, 54, 55
and 56) into future straightening angle set supplements.
The BMW order number for the E39 touring supplement set remains unchanged. The
CELETTE article number is changed to 716.307.
Steps for CARBENCH straightening angle sets
Here, rear axle fixtures 27/2 and 33 only need to be adjusted to revised values. This only
affects the vertical adjustment c.

Procedure:
A new set of CELETTE fixtures (53 to 56) will automatically be sent without invoicing to the
delivery addresses contained in the VT-2 list.
Additional requirements for this set are available as store tools
(CELETTE number 716.308) to order only.
The old fixtures 38 to 41 must be scrapped.
New orders for the E39 touring supplement can still be ordered from VT-2 under the
unchanged BMW order number 81 41 9 424 032.
The new values apply for CARBENCH straightening angle sets.
The current data sheet is to be changed in accordance with the values given above. Please
contact your CARBENCH dealer if you require additional data sheets.
