Clicking noise from pressure fan

E39 / M62

Complaint:

A "clicking noise" can be heard when the pressure fan starts up.

Cause:

The vanes of the pressure fan come into contact with the securing screw of the front air
duct due to incorrect screw length or material thickness of the air duct.

Affected
vehicles:

E39/M62 
Manufacturing period: September 1998 to April 1999

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint, fit an additional shim to the air duct securing screw.

Procedure:

To fit the shim:

1. 

Unscrew securing screw (1) of the front air duct.

2.

Retighten the securing screw with the additional shim.
