5 Series E39 M5 (S62) SAL
Release remaining screws in upper oil sump section.
Detach holder for battery positive lead and starter motor plug
connection from upper oil sump section.
Remove upper oil sump section.
Installation:
Sealing faces clean and free of seal debris.
Coat engine block at gap to end cover and to timing case
cover with Drei Bond 1209 sealing compound (refer
to BMW Parts Service).
Installation:
1.
Replace gasket
2.
Install oil sump
3.
Install all screws in the oil sump
4.
Fit screws in transmission end without preload
5.
Tighten down screws at engine end
6.
Tighten down screws at transmission end
Pull unrefined oil line (1) and governing line (2) out of upper oil
sump section.
