Replacing timing chain (S62)

Remove engine,

refer to 11 00 050.

Remove both cylinder heads,

refer to 11 12 517.

- 

Remove alternator

- 

Remove vibration damper

- 

Remove water pump

- 

Remove lower oil sump section

- 

Remove oil circuit changeover valves

- 

Remove oil pump

- 

Remove upper oil sump section

Remove lower timing case cover,

refer to 11 14 110.

Removal

Removal of timing chain is described separately from installation.

Open plastic straps (1).

Remove timing chain.
