Venting cooling system and checking for
water leaks (S62)

Warning!

Danger of scalding!

Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

On vehicles with independant heating, comply with additional
venting routine.

Drain off and top up coolant.

Check cooling system for leaks.

To ensure the cooling system is properly vented, it is absolutely
essential to follow the steps below:

1. 

Open coolant expansion tank.

2. 

Turn on ignition and set heater to max. temperature. Set

blower to low setting. This opens the heating valves and sets
the auxiliary water pump in operation.

3. 

Pour coolant into coolant expansion tank to a level of approx.

5 mm above max. cold fill level.

4. 

Close coolant expansion tank.

5. 

Run engine up to operating temperature. 

6. 

Check coolant level.
