5 Series E60 520d (M47T2) SAL
Install camshaft.
Position (1) of inlet camshaft gear flush with cylinder head.
Position (2) of exhaust camshaft gear flush with cylinder head.
Marking (1) on inlet camshaft must be between markings (2) on
exhaust camshaft.
See illustration.
The inlet camshaft bearing covers are marked E 1 ... E 5 from
the exhaust side.
The exhaust camshaft bearing covers are marked A 1 ... A 5
from the exhaust side.
Fit bearing caps.
Note:
Illustration shows M47.
Insert all screws (1) and initially tighten so that they are free of
play.
Tighten down camshaft bearing caps in 1/2 turn increments evenly
from inside to outside.
