Replacing both timing chains (M57TU)
Special tools required:
•
11 3 340
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Remove engine.
•
Remove cylinder head.
•
Removing oil pan.
•
Replace crankshaft radial seal.
•
Remove timing case.
•
Release nut on high-pressure pump.
Important!
Protect alternator against engine oil.
Cover alternator with suitable apparatus.
(Risk of damage).
Assemble charge air hoses without grease and dry.
Lock chain tensioner (1) with special tool 11 3 340 .
Detach clamping rail (3).
Detach guide rail (4).
