ing the ignition "off" and "on" again, i.e. after restarting the navigation computer, the current values are displayed
again.

BC displays in the instrument cluster which are called up via the BC steering column lever are not affected. These
displays are always current.

This complaint affects the system "Radio navigation" (Mk2m).

Cause: 
Faulty transmission of a trigger value in the software.

Action: 
See Procedure

5.

A route intermittently runs in a loop

Complaint: 
Intermittently, the map of the planned route on the on-board monitor appears as a loop, or the route guidance
instructions run in a loop.

The effect of this is that, for example, at a junction at which a certain direction should be taken to the programmed
destination, the route guidance proposes a different direction, and after following this direction for a while, either 

- 

gives an instruction to turn back or

- 

describes a route back to the original junction or to another point closer to the programmed destination.

This complaint affects both systems "TopNavigation" (Mk2c) and "Radio navigation" (Mk2m).

Cause 1: 
Constellation of contents of CD roadmap and characteristics of route planner in navigation computer:

When the route criterion "fastest route" or "express route" is selected, the route planner searches for a place near the
vehicle's current position at which there is an access point to a suitable road of a higher category (trunk road /
motorway) . If the route planner is unable to find a short route to this point using the road data provided on the CD
roadmap (roads missing), it will continuing trying until it has found a way there. This is usually a diversion, in extreme
cases even a loop.

The selection of route criteria determines which roads are to be searched for and selected. In some cases,
unfavourable evaluation of road classifications on the CD roadmap will cause the route planner to select a route
which is plausible according to the data available but which soon has to be left as the destination is in the other
direction. Loops can also occur in such cases.

Cause 2: 
Faults in route planner due to inadequate plausibility check:

The route is replanned after approx. 2/3 of the route has been driven. As a rule, this will result in a better route. In
some cases however, it can happen that an optimized route leads from a point which has already been passed, so
that the route planner returns to that point in a loop.

Action: 
See Procedure

This means that in any case, the current version of the navigation computer operating software must be loaded.

Moreover, the customer should be informed of the above situation, i.e. that loops in the route cannot be ruled out in
all cases.

6.

Route guidance intermittently remains active following "destination reached".

Complaint: 
If the vehicle was parked in the very moment that the "destination reached" display appeared on the monitor, it
intermittently occurs that the route guidance to that destination remains active the next time the vehicle is driven.

This is made evident by the fact that shortly after starting, instructions are given such as "please turn around", or
"turn left / right", even though the menu item "Navigation" was not activated.
