code 534). The IHKA High has separate controls for the driver's side and passenger side, in order to enhance
the comfort of the car's occupants.
The main new features of the IHKA are:

Electric auxiliary heater for vehicles with diesel engine
Electric heating elements made of aluminium have been added to the plates in the coolant flow of the
heating system heat exchanger. The inducted air is heated directly by these heating elements, before the
engine reaches its operating temperature.
•
Condensation sensor
The condensation sensor is active only in the IHKA's automatic program. The condensation sensor
monitors for conditions under which condensation fogs the windows. The condensation sensor measures
the moisture content of the air at the front windscreen. If a value higher than 65 % is measured, the IHKA
control unit starts the program to prevent fogging of the windows.
•
LIN bus (Local Interconnect Network bus)
The IHKA control unit controls the electric auxiliary heater, the flap motors and the blower via the LIN bus.

Park Distance Control
The Park Distance Control (PDC) system from the E65 has been adapted for the E60 and the E61.
New for the PDC in the E60 and E61: The signal from the PDC button is transferred through the K-CAN to the
PDC control unit. The signal from the reverse-light switch (reverse gear engaged) on vehicles with manual
transmission is transferred from the light module to the PDC control unit via the K-CAN. As in the E65, the visual
alarm is also shown in the Central Information Display (CID).

Information and communication systems
The Multi audio-system controller (M-ASK) is installed as standard in the E60 and E61. The following systems
are controlled by the M-ASK:

In the "High" version, this control function is assumed by the Car Communication Computer (CCC). The CCC
controls the audio functions and the Central Information Display (CID, 8.8" in the High version). The voice
recognition system and option code 609 "DVD navigation system Professional" are also controlled by the CCC.

The M-ASK and the CCC are programmed through the MOST direct access.
The navigation system receives its map data from the navigation DVD.

Condition Based Service (CBS), as the name suggests, is a means of ensuring that the car is serviced as and
when necessary. CBS has been in use by BMW Service since the launch of the E65. CBS is a landmark in the
