Specifications for workshop equipment
BMW/MINI
Situation:
The classic workshop equipment still plays a major role when it comes to correct,
professional vehicle maintenance and thus customer satisfaction. The basic condition for
this is that the workshop equipment is designed to meet the demands it faces.
In certain product groups, this claim can only be satisfied by equipment that not only meets
the demands of general workshop standards, but also the specific design characteristics of
BMW Group vehicles. This concerns vehicle dimensions, tolerances stipulated by
development and the functional characteristics of systems and components of BMW Group
vehicle.
The performance characteristics of workshop equipment must meet the demands placed
on them by these vehicles in order to rule out the possibility of incorrect diagnosis and
damage. Otherwise, concealed damage, repeat repairs and customer dissatisfaction could
be the result.
Not all workshop equipment available at retail level offers all the necessary performance
characteristics. For this reason, BMW Workshop Equipment compiles and maintains
specifications for the equipment concerned, in which all necessary equipment
characteristics are documented. These specifications are intended to enable suppliers to
adapt their products to the requirements of the BMW Group and to allow BMW
Werkstatteinrichtung to examine the products on offer.
With immediate effect, key excerpts from these specifications will be published in TIS. This
will give the dealer organisation the best possible orientation is assessing the equipment
available and when making new investments.
BMW Werkstatteinrichtung will publish in the WEP catalogue tested products that satisfy
the demands stipulated in the specifications. The catalogue can be ordered through:
Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP > Service/Technical > Workshop Equipment)
or through the internet (www.bmwgroup-wep.com) .
Procedure:
Key excerpts of the BMW Group specifications for workshop equipment will be published in
TIS. Modifications stipulated by development or production will be incorporated as
necessary (see Enclosures 1 to 6).
