Emergency call functions
Note: Transmitting an emergency call without a SIM card.
It is possible to transmit an emergency call without a SIM card.
Even if the SIM card reader does not recognise a SIM card as being present, an emergency call can still be
transmitted if required.
Manual emergency call: A manual emergency call is triggered with the country-specific emergency number by
pressing the emergency call button in the middle of the front headlining.
If option 605 "Basic fittings for telematics" is installed, the TCU first try to establish a voice connection to the
service provider when the emergency call button is pressed. In addition, an SMS text message will be sent to the
service provider giving the coordinates of the vehicle's location.
If no connection with the service provider can be established within 60 seconds, a standard emergency call will
be triggered from the mobile phone network.
