Repairs on aluminium front end

Situation:
The decision to build the E60 as a mixed construction vehicle (aluminium/steel) means that
special demands are placed on the dealer organisation with respect to repair procedures
specifically required for mixed construction.
It is imperative that the specifications defined in the Repair Instructions are observed and
that body specialists are trained accordingly. The range of possibilities offered by steel are
not available with mixed construction.
The necessary repair work can be performed in any body workshop, provided an aluminium
work bay (either stationary or mobile) is available.
Repairs on the aluminium front end are based on "cold-bonding techniques" (cementing /
riveting). Aluminium welding work is not performed.
Additional new tools and equipment are needed to perform the new repair techniques.
Procedure:
Store tools are intended for repair shops and are only supplied to order.
