5 Series E60 530d (M57TU) SAL
Lock chain tensioner (1) at bottom with special tool 11 3 340
and remove.
Unscrew nut (2).
Detach clamping rail (3).
Detach guide rail (4).
Installation:
Tightening torque: 13 52 2AZ
.
Remove sprockets and chain.
Installation:
Check adapter sleeves (see arrows) for damage.
Replace seal.
Installation:
When repair work is carried out on the timing case cover, the
timing case cover gasket must be cut through at the marked
points (1).
Apply a thin coat of Drei Bond 1209 sealing compound
(sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service) to ends (arrows) of
timing case cover on both sides.
If necessary, remove water pump.
Fit timing case cover.
Insert all screws and pretighten to 5 Nm.
Note:
M7 screws.
Installation:
Tightening torque, 11 14 1AZ
.
Assemble engine.
