Removing and Installing Exhaust Turbocharger for 5 Series E60 530d (M57TU) SAL Engine
Remove sealing cap (1) in direction of arrow.
Remove seal plugs (arrowed) upwards.
Unfasten banjo bolt (4).
Note:
Catch escaping engine oil in a suitable container.
Disconnect line (2).
Unfasten hose clip (3).
Detach return line.
Release screws (1).
Release retaining plate on engine block.
Installation:
Tightening torque 11 65 1AZ
.
Clean sealing surfaces.
If necessary, replace turbocharger.
Release oil line banjo bolt (1).
Installation:
Tightening torque 11 65 7AZ
.
Replace sealing rings.
Oil line (1) must run parallel to housing.
Assemble engine.
Important!
To avoid damaging the threads and prevent turbocharger
leakage, insert retaining screws in 1/2 turns simultaneously.
