Drip moulding contacts glass cover for option 403

Complaint:
When closing from the vent position, and primarily at high outside temperatures, the front
edge of the drip moulding makes contact with the edge of the glass cover.
Cause:
Unfavourable tolerance range of individual parts.
Affected vehicles:
E60
Manufacturing period: start of series production until September 2005
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint, grind down the front edge of the drip moulding along its
entire length.
Procedure:
Remove the glass lid as described in Repair Instructions 54 12 115 .
Press drip moulding (1) down and lock
in place.
Cover working area (2) under drip
moulding (1) as necessary with
cardboard to protect it from dirt.
Mark a strip approximately 2 mm wide
along the front edge (1).
Grind off the strip marked on the front
edge (1) using coarse sandpaper and
a sanding block.
Complete work by sanding front
edge (1) with fine sandpaper.
Clean the working area.
Install and adjust glass cover (1) as described in Repair Instructions 54 12 115 .
Reimbursement:
No parts are needed for this repair.
Material and labour costs incurred can be claimed through the usual warranty channels
subject to current warranty terms.
