Replacing A/C system compressor (M57, M54)
Warning!
Risk of injury!
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
Follow safety instructions for handling R 134a refrigerant .
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Follow safety instructions for handling refrigerant oil.
Important!
Risk of damage!
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly
filled.
Read and comply with notes on replacing compressor.
Follow instructions for opening and replacing parts in
refrigerant circuit!
If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replacing drier insert for A/C system
Necessary preliminary tasks:
All:
•
Drawing off refrigerant from A/C system is not included in the
time value of this operation
•
Remove front underbody protection
Only M57:
•
Remove pressure pipe
M54 only:
•
Release coolant expansion tank, disconnect plug
connection and place coolant expansion tank to one side
Version with Dynamic Drive:
Do not release pressure lines on active stabilizer.
Press lock (1) on distributor (2) and detach vent line (3) in
direction of arrow.
Installation:
Make sure vent line (3) is correctly seated in distributor (2).
Lower stabilizer on front axle.
