5 Series E61 520d (M47T2) TOUR
indicator. These tyres have reinforced sidewalls. This makes the tyres self-supporting: even when deflated, the
tyre retains its strength and does not go flat. In the event of a puncture, therefore, the car can be driven to the
next workshop, as follows: Maximum range of 150 kilometres at medium load and a speed of max. 80 km/h.

Self-levelling suspension
The E61 from BMW offers a uniformly high level of ride comfort with self-levelling pneumatic rear suspension.
The suspension is self-levelling, irrespective of the load carried in the car. Two height sensors, one at each rear
wheel, detect the ride height of the car.. The increased elasticity of the aluminium rear axle in the vehicle's
longitudinal direction increases the load on the pneumatic springs. On account of this increased load, BMW is
the first manufacturer to adopt pneumatic springs with two cushions. The second, topmost cushion acts as an
extra articulation. It reduces the load on the pneumatic springs.
