Replacing fuel filter 

Necessary preliminary tasks:

•

Switch off ignition

•

Remove left underbody panelling

Note:

Note colour coding on fuel filters. Only replace filter with same
coding.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Release clamp (1).

Installation:

Replace clamp (1).

Detach retainer (2) in direction of arrow.

Detach fuel heater (3) in direction of arrow.

Release screw (4).

Detach rubber mount (5). (Replace if necessary).

Replace fuel filter (6).

Vent fuel system. 

Turn on ignition for approx. 1 minute (venting takes place
automatically).

Starting from NG engine model series, vent fuel system via 
BMW diagnosis system.
