Combination roller blind damaged

E61, E91

Situation:

Damage to the combination roller blind is often the cause of complaints and unjustified
warranty claims. This is often caused by incorrect handling or a degree of loading that the
system has not been designed for.

Test protocols show that different fault patterns can only be replicated under extreme
conditions and that these do no correspond to using the system in the way in which it was
designed.

Much damage of this kind does not constitute a functional problem, e.g. visual defects.

Affected vehicles:

E61 Touring and E91 Touring.

Procedure:

If customer complaints are received corresponding to the examples listed, it should be
checked on a case-by-case basis whether the customer has acted in the way described in
the Owner's Handbook. It must also be clarified in a discussion with the customer whether
the load levels for which the combination roller blind is designed have been observed.

Important:

The following fault patterns occur frequently and do not constitute reasons for
warranty reimbursement:

Canvas drooping on one side

Cause of damage could be:

- 

Strong and presumably one-sided
tensile load under hot conditions. 
(e.g. cover sheet locked on one
side or weight on or under one-
side of the cover sheet caused by
boxes, cartons, etc.).
