The GSM antenna (GSM: Global System for Mobile Communication) is the transmitting and receiving aerial for
the mobile phone.
Because the GSM antenna is mounted on the outside of the vehicle, communication with the mobile phone

M-ASK: Multi-audio system controller
On the E60, E61, E63 and E64, M-ASK is installed in the basic equipment specification.

CCC: Car Communication Computer
The CCC is installed in connection with one of the following options:

Option 609 "Professional navigation system"
•
Option 620 "Voice recognition system"
•
Option 601 "Video module"

CID: Central Information Display
The menus for the M-ASK and CCC are displayed on the CID.

Hands-free microphone and microphone for voice commands
The hands-free microphone is located in the roof function centre and is used to input speech information and
voice commands into the hands-free system.
On vehicles with CCC, option 620 "Voice recognition system" is also necessary, as voice commands cannot
otherwise be processed. With option 620 "Voice recognition system", a second microphone for inputting voice
commands is fitted in the roof function centre. All CCC functions can then be operated using voice commands.
> E64, E93: The microphones are installed on the steering column.
Note: From 09/2006, only 1 microphone is to be fitted. This change will be introduced gradually through the
various model series.

MFL: Multi-function steering wheel (optional)
The MFL has buttons that can also be used for operating the telephone. If a call is accepted, the ULF will switch
to hands-free mode.
The following functions are operated by pressing the transmit/receive button:
