Stick on adhesive tape (1) so that it is flush with seal at front
left/right (2).

Note:

Max. 1 mm gap.

Pull off liner (protective strip for adhesive surface).

Stick double-sided adhesive tape (1) on trim (4) along ridge (2)
and template (3).

Note:

In the case of replacement, the adhesive tape is already stuck on
the trim (4).

Up to build date 05/2004:

When fitting a new trim (4) on convertible top compartment lid, it
is necessary to insert a 0.5 mm dia. shim (sourcing reference:
BMW Parts Service) between trim (4) and convertible top
compartment lid at screwing points (5).

Pull off liner (protective strip for adhesive surface) and position
trim (1) on convertible top compartment lid (2) to create an exact
fit.

Tighten down screws (1), see Fig. R514216.

Tightening torque 51 17 10AZ

.

Checking ideal adjustment:

•

Fit convertible top compartment lid

•

Close convertible top and convertible top compartment lid

•

Close rear window

Check measurement (A) between trim on convertible top
compartment lid (1) and rear window (2).

Measurement (A) = 7.8 

±

 4 mm

Note:

Measurement (A) must be uniformly the same over the entire
width.
